The Youth Forums are based on curriculum from Youth: The Real Future of the South. The non-partisan public policy think tank based in Research Triangle Park, NC company, Southern Growth Policies, was formed by the region's governors in 1971. Southern Growth's research focus encompasses the major drivers for economic development in the south. We will survey youth to find out what they want in the community. The focus of the discussion is on creating new businesses, and jobs, for young people. Students leaders from all high schools in the 22 public school divisions are invited to attend one of three evening discussions. Dr. Dorothea Shannon, Director of CREED, will facilitate the two-hour discussions. Participating schools will receive summaries of the evening's discussion.
